The vang is constructed of one smaller anodized aluminum tube and one larger painted aluminum tube with cast anodized ends. Boom Vangs are mounted between the Mast and the Boom and are used to keep the Boom from rising (without using the main sheet), and, in the case of Hard Vangs, to support the Boom (without using a topping lift).
